Jane Austen Festival

A festival for lovers of all things Austen

Each year Bath’s splendid Georgian cityscape is the perfect backdrop for a celebration of the life and work of Jane Austen. Each September sees thousands of lovers of all things Austen from all over the world fill the city’s streets, living out their very own period drama, clad head-to-toe in splendid Regency dress.

During the course of ten days, there are over eighty events including theatricals, tours of Austen related sites, readings, dance workshops, talks and discussions on all sorts of subjects from food and 18th Century fashion, to health and gardens. And of course, no festival would be complete without the Grand Regency Costumed Promenade and a Masked Ball in the historic Pump Rooms.
