Right on the harbour’s edge, the imaginatively displayed objects, art and archival materials tell the story of the people of Bristol from prehistoric to modern times, plus there’s a chance to see working steamboats, trains and cranes.
M Shed’s trains, boats and cranes are amongst the last remnants of the working dockside and its galleries capture the essence of what makes Bristol the city that it is today.
Did you know?
In the summer of 2017, over 10,000 people applied to stay in a one bedroom crane ‘treehouse’, perched high above the dock next to M Shed - but just 260 guests were lucky enough to get the chance to climb into this city-centre cocoon of calm.
