Theatre Royal

One of Britain’s oldest working theatres, this theatre has entertained and inspired Bath residents for generations.

The building itself is a true gem in Bath’s famous showcase of Georgian architecture, boasting an ornate 900-seat auditorium which offers a truly luxurious theatre experience.

The Theatre holds a permanent place on the UK’s main theatre circuit, regularly hosting productions straight from London’s West End including the very best in theatre, opera, comedy, dance and pantomime.

Boasting three fabulous auditoria, including the main Theatre Royal, the Ustinov Studio and the egg theatre, the year-round programme of performances runs alongside special backstage tours, theatre schools, workshops and courses.

The Theatre Royal also houses several bars, a cafe and a fabulous restaurant in the original vaults which offers a delicious menu of classic cuisine with a modern twist.

Did you know?

The theatre itself is said to be haunted by several ghosts including the Grey Lady, who was an actress centuries ago. She has been seen watching productions in the Grey Lady Box, and leaves the distinctive scent of jasmine wherever she goes.
